La seva forma bàsica és la d'un tallador rodant (fresa) que gira en l'eix vertical (com un trepant), i que es pot moure en tres dimensions (i, possiblement, en diverses orientacions) en relació a la peça a mecanitzar (en contrast amb el trepant, que només es pot moure en una dimensió mentre forada). El moviment al llarg de la superfície de la peça a mecanitzar es porta a terme generalment mitjançant una taula mòbil en la qual es munta la peça a mecanitzar, preparada així per a moure's en dues dimensions. Es poden operar les màquines fresadores tant manualment com mitjançant control numèric (vegeu CNC).

フライス (Milling cutter ) は、回転を与えて切削加工に使用される工具（切削工具）。おもにフライス盤やマシニングセンタで使われる。外周や端面に切刃を持ち、通常は回転の中心軸と垂直の方向に切削を行う。主に高速度鋼(ハイス)や超硬合金で作られ、また、切刃部分にcBNや焼結ダイヤモンドを使用したものもある。日本語の「フライス」は、ドイツ語のFräse や、フランス語のFraise に由来する。

บทความนี้มีชื่อเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ เนื่องจากยังไม่มีชื่อภาษาไทยที่กระชับ เหมาะสม หรือไม่รู้วิธีอ่านในภาษาไทย Powder Metallurgy คือ เทคนิคการขึ้นรูปโลหะผง ซึ่งประกอบด้วย 3 ขั้นตอนหลักๆ ขั้นตอนแรก เป็นการคัดแยกผงโลหะ ขั้นตอนต่อไป ผงโลหะจะถูกฉีดเข้าไปใน mold หรืออัดขึ้นรูปด้วย dieจะได้ชิ้นงานในรูปของ green ซึ่งอนุภาคโลหะผงจะจับกันด้วย mechanical locking ซึ่งมีความแข็งแรงต่ำ รูปร่างหรือมิติที่ได้ใกล้เคียงของจริง(รูปร่างที่ต้องการ) ขั้นตอนสุดท้าย คือการเผาผนึก(sintering)ด้วยเตาอบแบบต่างๆที่มีการควบคุมบรรยากาศ

Jauhemetallurgia on muotoilu- ja valmistustekniikka, jolla on kolme päävaihetta. Ensimmäiseksi raaka-aine jauhetaan haluttuun raekokoon. Seuraavaksi jauhe ruiskutetaan tai kaadetaan muottiin. Kolmantena vaiheena kuumennus joko siten, että kappale on yhä muotissa paineen alaisena tai ilman muottia normaalissa paineessa. Alle materiaalin sulamislämpötilan jäävän kuumennuksen aikana tapahtuu jauhettujen rakeiden välillä kylmähitsautuminen. Tuloksena on kappale, joka on valmiiksi halutuissa mitoissa tai hyvin lähellä niitä.

متالورژی پودر روشی برای ساخت و تولید قطعات فلزی و سرامیک است که اساس آن بر فشردن پودر مواد به شکل مورد نظر و تفجوشی آن است. تف جوشی در درجه حرارتی زیر نقطه ذوب صورت میپذیرد. متالورژی پودر بخشی کوچک ولی بسیار مهم از صنایع فلزگری میباشد. اولین کاربرد متالورژی پودر برای تولید پلاتین با دانسیته کامل بود که در قرن ۱۹ میلادی صورت گرفت چون در آن زمان امکان ذوب پلاتین به دلیل نقطه ذوب بالا وجود نداشت. در اوایل قرن بیستم فلزهای دیر گدازی مانند تنگستن، مولیبدن توسط روش متالورژی پودر شکل داده شدند. کاربیدهای سمانیت و یاتاقانهای برنزی متخلخل نسل بعدی قطعات متالورژی پودر بودند. به این صورت قطعات متالورژی پودر در انواع صنایع مانند لوازم خانگی، اسباب بازی سازی و الکترونیک کاربرد پیدا نمود. آخرین کاربردهای قطعات متالورژی پودر در صنایع خودرو سازی میبود که موازی با رشد صنایع اتومبیل سازی رشد نمود به صورتی که امروزه بقای صنعت متالورژی پودر در کشورهای صنعتی بسیار وابسته به صنعت خودرو سازی میباشد.

Powder metallurgy is a forming and fabrication technique consisting of three major processing stages. First, the primary material is physically powdered, divided into many small individual particles. Next, the powder is injected into a mold or passed through a die to produce a weakly cohesive structure (via cold welding) very near the dimensions of the object ultimately to be manufactured. Finally, the end part is formed by applying pressure, high temperature, long setting times (during which self-welding occurs), or any combination thereof.
