YT类合金，ISO称为P类（主要成份为WC-TiC-Co）；YG类合金，ISO称之为K类（主要成份为WC-Co）。
硬度
碳化物WC、TiC等的硬度很高，所以合金整体也就有高硬度，一般在HRA89~93之间。硬质合金的硬度值随碳化物的性质、数量和粒度而变化，又随粘结剂含量的增多而降低。在粘结剂含量相同时，WC-TiC-Co合金的硬度高于WC-Co合金。
硬质合金的硬度又随着温度升高而降低。在700~800℃时，部分合金保持着相当于高速钢在常温时的硬度，另一部分合金则低些。合金的高温硬度仍取决于碳 化物在高温下的硬度，故WC-TiC-Co合金的高温硬度比WC-Co合金高些。添加TaC(NbC)能提高高温硬度。
抗弯强度和韧性
常用牌号硬质合金的抗弯强度在0.90~1.50GPa范围内。粘结剂含量越高，则抗弯强度也就越高。当粘结剂含量相同时，WC-TiC-Co合金的抗弯强度总是低于WC-Co合金，并随着TiC的含量的增加而下降。
硬质合金是脆性材料，常温下其冲击韧性仅为高速钢的1/8~1/30。韧性不足是硬质合金的弱点。故硬质合金刀具一般是将合金刀片焊接或夹固在刀柄（刀 体）上使用，有的小模数齿轮滚刀或小的硬质合金钻头和立铣刀等才做成整体的。和抗弯强度的情况一样，WC-TiC-Co类韧性低于WC-Co类。
导热系数
由于TiC的导热系数低于WC，所以WC-TiC-Co合金导热系数比WC-Co合金低，并随着TiC的含量增加而下降。
线膨胀系数
总的说来，硬质合金的线膨胀系数比高速钢小得多。WC-TiC-Co合金的线膨胀系数大于WC-Co合金，并随着TiC的含量的增加而加大。
由于WC-Co合金的线膨胀系数比WC-TiC-Co合金小，而且WC-Co合金抗弯强度较高，导热系数较大，所以焊接时产生裂纹的倾向比WC-TiC-Co合金小。
抗冷焊性
硬质合金与钢发生冷焊的温度高于高速钢，WC-TiC-Co合金与钢发生冷焊的温度高于WC-Co合金
