ビッカース硬さ(ビッカースかたさ、Vickers hardness)は、工業材料の硬さを表す尺度の一つであり、押込み硬さの一種である。

試験法は、1925年に開発された。対面角α=136°の正四角錐ダイヤモンドで作られたピラミッド形をしている圧子を材料表面に押し込み、荷重を除いたあとに残ったへこみの対角線の長さd(mm)から表面積S(mm²)を算出する。試験荷重F(N)を算出した表面積S(mm²)で割った値がビッカース硬さ(HV)であり、以下の式で求められる。

ビッカース硬さの特徴は、材料の大小にかかわらず、すべての金属に使用することができて、硬さ試験法の中で最も汎用性が高い。これは荷重が変わっても圧痕の形状が相似であるため、異なる種類の材料に対しても、荷重を変更するだけで同一の尺度で硬さが求められ、相互の比較ができる。

Bij de Vickers-hardheidstest wordt een diamanten vierzijdige piramide met een tophoek van 136° in het te meten object gedrukt met een kracht F. De kracht wordt binnen 2 tot 8 seconden opgebouwd en vastgehouden gedurende 10 tot 15 seconden. Na het wegnemen van de kracht worden de beide diagonalen d₁ en d₂) opgemeten met behulp van een meetmicroscoop. Door het weggedrukte oppervlak te bepalen kan met behulp van onderstaande formule de bijbehorende hardheidswaarde worden bepaald. Deze waarde wordt uitgedrukt in "Hardheid volgens Vickers" (HV).

Skala twardości Vickersa – skala oznaczania twardości metali na podstawie testu dokonanego metodą Vickersa. Twardość w skali Vickersa oznacza się HV i leży w zakresie od 80 do 700.

Pomiaru twardości metodą Vickersa dokonuje się diamentową czworościenną piramidą o kącie rozwarcia pomiędzy ścianami 136°. Nacisk dobierany jest od 1 do 100 kilogramów siły i wykonuje się go aparatem Vickersa. Twardość oblicza się ze wzoru:

HV = siła obciążająca w kG / powierzchnia pobocznicy odcisku w mm².

Metoda Vickersa łączy w sobie cechy metody Brinella i Rockwella. Używana jest jedna skala, uniwersalna dla wszystkich klas materiałów jak w metodzie Brinella, lecz możliwe jest badania próbek bardzo cienkich jak w metodzie Rockwella. Podobnie także jak w tej ostatniej jest mało inwazyjna i nadaje się do stosowania przy badaniu gotowych wyrobów (głównie pokryć metalicznych związanych z obróbką powierzchniową jak: cyjanowanie, nawęglanie, kaloryzowanie oraz cienkich powierzchni metalicznych - platerowanie). Pomiar metodą Vickersa obdarzony jest także najmniejszą niepewnością pomiarową, mimo to odciśnięty ślad jest zazwyczaj niesymetryczny, co jest związane z anizotropowymi właściwościami metali.

Penetrador Vickers

Dureza Vickers é um método de classificação da dureza dos materiais baseada num ensaio laboratorial. Neste método, é usada uma pirâmide de diamante com ângulo de diedro de 136º que é comprimida, com uma força arbitrária "F", contra a superfície do material. Calcula-se a área "A" da superfície impressa pela medição das suas diagonais.

O método é baseado no princípio de que as impressões provocadas pelo penetrador possuem similaridade geométrica, independentemente da carga aplicada. Assim, cargas de diversas magnitudes são aplicadas na superfície plana da amostra, dependendo da dureza a ser medida. O Número Vickers (HV) é então determinado pela razão entre a carga (kgf) e a área superficial da impressão (mm2). Por ser dependente da área a escala Vickers varia rapidamente quando comparada a Rockwell, por exemplo: 68 HRC~940 HRV e 60 HRC~697 HRV.

Este método foi desenvolvido no início da década de 1920 como uma alternativa ao Brinell. Uma das grandes vantagens é que os cálculos da dureza não dependem das dimensões do penetrador.

O mesmo penetrador pode ser usado nos ensaios de diversos materiais, independentemente da dureza. Além disso, esta é uma das escalas mais amplas entre as usadas para medição de dureza e pode ser utilizada para todos os metais, com uma grande precisão de medida.

A grande vantagem deste método é a pequena impressão deixada, sendo que este procedimento é utilizado em ensaios de micro e nano-dureza, na qual é possível analisar cerâmicas e finíssimas camadas de revestimento. As desvantagens são a necessidade de preparar a amostra previamente e o uso de um microscópio adequado.

Este ensaio é normatizado pela ASTM E92 (Standard Test Method for Vickers Hardness of Metallic Materials).

Прибор для измерения твёрдости

Метод Виккерса — метод измерения твердости металлов и сплавов по Виккерсу, его регламентирует ГОСТ 2999-75.

Сущность метода заключается во вдавливании в испытуемый материал правильной четырехгранной алмазной пирамиды с углом 136 град. между противоположными гранями.

Твердость по Виккерсу вычисляется путем деления нагрузки Р на площадь поверхности полученного пирамидального отпечатка. Метод Виккерса позволяет определять твердось азотированных и цементированных поверхностей, а также тонких листовых материалов.

Наблюдается хорошее совпадение значений твердости по Виккерсу и Бринеллю в пределах от 100 до 450 НВ. Твердость по Виккерсу во всех случаях обозначается буквами HV без указания размерности — МПа (кгс/мм.кв.).

Основными параметрами при измерении твердости по Виккерсу являются нагрузка Р = 294 Н (30 кгс) и время выдержки 10-15 с.

В других случаях после символа HV указывают индексы разделенные наклонной чертой и обозначающие нагрузку и время выдержки, и через тире — число твердости.

The Rockwell scale characterizes the indentation hardness of materials through the depth of penetration of an indenter, loaded on a material sample and compared to the penetration in some reference material. It is one of several definitions of hardness in materials science. Its hardness values are noted by HR* where * is the letter for the scale used. Hardness' relation to strength is that both are measures of the pressure it take to get plastic deformation to occur in materials.

The determination of the Rockwell hardness of a material involves the application of a minor load followed by a major load, and then noting the depth of penetration, vis a vis, hardness value directly from a dial, in which a harder material gives a higher number. The chief advantage of Rockwell hardness is its ability to display hardness values directly, thus obviating tedious calculations involved in other hardness measurement techniques. Also, the relatively simple and inexpensive set-up enables its installation in college laboratories.

It is typically used in engineering and metallurgy. Its commercial popularity arises from its speed, reliability, robustness, resolution and small area of indentation.

• Cleaning indenter and test-piece to be clear of dirt, grease, rust or paint
• Measuring on a perpendicular, flat surface ("round work correction factors" are invoked to adjust for test-piece curvature)
• Ensuring that the thickness of the test-piece is at least 10 times the depth of the indentation
• Maintaining an adequate spacing between multiple indentations
• Controlling the speed of the indentation

There are several alternative scales, the most commonly used being the "B", and "C" scales. Both express hardness as an arbitrary dimensionless number.

• The B-scale is used for softer materials (such as aluminum, brass, and softer steels). It employs a hardened steel ball as the indenter and a 100kg weight to obtain a value expressed as "HRB".
• The C-scale, for harder materials, uses a diamond cone, known as a Brale indenter and a 150kg weight to obtain a value expressed as "HRC".

Readings below HRC 20 are generally considered unreliable, as are readings much above HRB 100.

• Very hard steel (e.g. a good knife blade): HRC 55 - HRC 62
• Axes, chisels, etc.: HRC 40 - 45

Several other scales, including the extensive A-scale, are used for specialized applications. There are special scales for measuring case-hardened specimens.
