This fully-automated 5 chamber sputter system has been specifically designed for integration into complete production lines. The substrates are transported horizontally, thus minimizing the need for their fixation and masking.

Benefit: Cost cutting

The plastic, glass, ceramic or metal substrates to be metallized are fed to the plant on a carrier pallet via a conveying system. A 180° handler that is part of the system picks up and carries the pallets into and out of the load and unload lock chamber. The pallets are transported from here to the individual process chambers.

The following steps of the process are performed subsequently and in parallel:

– Activation or deposition of an additional base coat with a medium-frequency plasma source

– Coating of the parts in 3 to 5 seconds with 2 sputter sources arranged in parallel

– Plasma polymerization and modification of the coating with a medium-frequency plasma source

Benefit: All steps of the process such as activation and metallization are performed directly one after the other. A pallet with coated parts can be unloaded and a new one with parts to be coated loaded every 38 seconds.
