切削条件の設定
・加工材料にはそれぞれ最適な切削条件があります。
・標準切削速度を参考に、工作物の種類、切削工具の材種、機械の剛性やガタの程度、工作物の形状や加工内容等の要因を考慮に入れ設定します。
・ハンドブック、過去の事例等をもとに目安を設定し、加工の状態から判断して修正していきます。 ●回転数の選択
・回転数に関して次のような関係が成り立ちます。　

※rpm：1分間の回転数
※mm／min：1分間あたりの切削の長さ

●例えば、直径100mmのアルミニウムを高速度鋼（ハイス）バイトで切削（仕上げ削り）するとします。
標準切削速度を参考に、切削速度は200m／minと設定すると次のように主軸回転数（n）を求めることができます。

よって、主軸の回転数は毎分666回転となります。(666rpm）

しかし、工作センターの金属旋盤は無段階変速装置をもつマシーンではないので下記の主軸回転数に最も近い回転数にセットします。
この場合毎分560回転(560rpm）という設定で切削を開始します。
