柴油引擎（Diesel Engine），即壓燃式發動機，是內燃機的一種。其主要特徵為使用壓縮產生高壓及高溫點燃氣化燃料，而毋須另外提供點火。柴油引擎使用的原理稱為狄塞爾循環，為德國工程師魯道夫·狄塞爾(Rudolph Diesel)在1892年所發明。現時大部份的柴油引擎使用的燃料為柴油，但狄塞爾的發明原意是可以使用不同種類的燃料。事實上，他在1900年的世界博覽會上展示他的發明時，使用的燃料是花生油。
世界上有名的柴油引擎製造商有Wartsila[瓦濟蘭]等等
