应当根据工件材料、刀具材料、加工方法和加工要求，选用不同的切削液。如选择不当，就得不到应有效果。常用切削液的配方及其选用可参考附录8。

高 速钢刀具粗加工时，应选用以冷却作用为主的切削液，主要目的是降低切削温度；硬质合金刀具粗加工时可以不用切削液，必要时也可以来用低浓度的乳化液或水溶 液，但必须连续地、充分地浇注。精加工切削时（包括铰削、拉削、螺纹加工、剃齿等），应选用润滑性能好的极压切削油或高浓度的极压乳化液。硬质合金刀具精 加工时采用的切削液与粗加工时基本相同，但应适当注意提高其润滑性能。切削高强度钢和高温合金等难加工材料，对切削液的冷却、润滑作用都有较高的要求，此 时应尽可能采用极压切削油或极压乳化液。加工铜、铝及其合金不能用含硫的切削液。

切削时切削液的施加方法，以浇注法用得最多(图8—4)。使用此法时，切削液流量应充足，浇注位置应尽量接近切削区。深孔加工时，应使用大流量(0.83—2.5L／s)、高压力(1—10MPa)的切削液，以达到有效地冷却、润滑和排屑的目的。图8—5所 示的喷雾冷却装置是利用入口压力为0.3—0.6MPa的压缩空气使切削液雾化，并高速喷向切削区，当微小的液滴碰到灼热的刀具、切屑时，便很快汽化，带 走大量的热量，从而能有效地降低切削温度。喷离喷嘴的雾状液滴因压力减小，体积骤然膨胀，温度有所下降，从而进一步提高了它的冷却作用。这种方法叫喷雾冷 却法。
