渗碳钢
具有高碳的耐磨表层和低碳的高强韧性心部，能承受巨大的冲击载荷、接触应力和磨损。汽车、工程机械和机器制造等行业中，大量使用的齿轮， 是渗碳件的心 部组织为50%左右的马氏体加其他非马氏体组织。重要用途（如航空渗碳齿轮），心部组织亦应为马氏体或马氏体/贝氏体组织。提高淬透性的常用合金元素有 铬、锰、镍、钼和硼。从合金化的经济角度考虑，Cr-Mo 钢更为优越。重要用途的、高质量要求的渗碳钢一般均含有一定量的钼，尤其是对于重载的磊型渗碳 件更需要。
当心部性能确定后，渗层组织和性能对使用寿命具有决定性作用。渗层的组织要求为全马氏体和细小、弥球、球状分布的合金碳化物。保证渗层组织的核心仍然是淬透性。渗层应具有高的硬度、良好的显微组织、合理的残余应力分布和一定的韧性储备。
