２－２－３　金型仕上げ加工のための切削工具（テーパ刃エンドミル）（４－２、６－２－２、６－２－３h、７－２－３、８－１－３）

【技術内容】

新形状のテーパエンドミルを紹介した。一般にテーパエンドミルはプラスチック製品の補強リブに対応する金型リブ溝の仕上加工に用いる。

新形状のソリッドテーパエンドミルは、直径0.5mmの場合の溝深さは６mm、最大直径2.0mmでは溝深さ20mmとし、テーパ角は 片面30′～２°が標準化されている。図１に示すとおり、四角断面形状による強度向上とストレート外周刃による加工仕上げ面の向上、先端角付けによる切削 力の分散（耐折損性向上）、および摩耗の均一化（長寿命化）を特徴とする。

その使用効果を図２に示す。仕上げ面粗さは送り方向、軸方向とも２μm以下になるため、エンドミル加工後の手仕上げが省略でき能率向上がはかられる。

エンドミルは狭く深い溝加工に用いられるので使用に際しては注意が必要である。所要の回転数を確保するとともに回転振動が極力少ない高 精度の機械を用いる。直径0.5mmのエンドミルでは約20,000回転が必要である。潤滑性の高い不水溶性の切削油を使う。長時間の無人運転に対応する ため、エンドミル折損をインプロセス検出する工具破損検出器を使用すると良い。
